You Can Rejuvenate Your Skin Without Surgery
Acne is a part of being a young adult and some might even say it is a rite of passage to maturity. Facial acne is a very common kind of facial imperfection. But even if we outgrow it at some point in our life, consequences of having it, like acne scars, can have life-long effects.
With the help of science, many facial imperfections can be corrected. Chemical peels are very effective in treating acne. Chemical peels are procedures that can improve and smooth the texture of the face using chemical solutions that enable the skin to peel off old and damaged parts and let new and younger skin resurface.
Chemical peels have been used throughout history. Ancient Egyptians used lactic acid from sour milk for skin rejuvenation. In the middle ages there were even techniques to renew the skin.
There are a number of chemical peels of different strengths. Light chemical peels are those that smooth the superficial part of the skin and usually can be done at home with the use of facial kits and do not need long recovery time. Light chemical peels contain a number of acids to help the skin rejuvenate.
Beta Hydroxy Acid is used for superficial chemical peels which can go deeper into the pores. Salicylic Acid is one element of a chemical peel.
Medium to deep chemical peels need to be done by professional dermatologist or a plastic surgeon due to the pain involved. Some chemical peels require anasthesia and may take weeks to fully heal.
Retinoic acid peels are performed in the office of a dermatologist and can penetrate deeper than BHA. Trichloroacetic acid peels are chemical peels that contain trichloroacetic acid in varying concentration between 20-50%.
Phenol peels are the strongest type of peels. The effects of this chemical peel is long lasting. In some cases, acne can leave scars for years.
Chemicals in light chemical peels can be included in daily facial regimens by combining them to creams or lotions. Medium to deep chemical peels are suggested to be done sparingly as their effects are long lasting and there is no need to repeat them as often.
Chemical peels have benefits that are similar to plastic surgery which can include helping control acne, remove blemishes and pigmentation, improving the texture of the skin by reducing wrinkles. But unlike plastic surgery, chemical peels are considered to be much safer as the procedure does not require cutting the face. It is also much more affordable.
Thanks to the wonder powers of science, we can now improve our facial imperfections and finally regain our confidence by the use of chemical peels. Chemical peels can rejuvenate your skine!
