Stop Excessive Underarm Sweating
This article is about the need to cure excessive sweating, especially excessive underarm sweating.
Underarm sweating, also known as axillary hyperhidrosis in medical terminology is a medical condition, which is described as involving the dripping of sweat in the armpits, with a constant odor.
Deorodrants have little or no effect on this type of body odor. Underarm sweating is a type of primary hyperhidrosis, which can be present in a person in singular form, or may be in conjunction with any or all other types of hyperhidrosis—this may include hands, feet, and face as affected areas.
Underarm sweating is one of the most troublesome forms of hyperhidrosis, as it produces odor, which makes working in a social sector a real task for the patients.
The popular belief is that excessive under sweating is caused when the sympathetic nervous system over stimulation the sweat glands of the person.
Heavy physical work and exercise naturally produces sweating in the underarm areas, whereas even at times of total inactivity there is heavy underarm sweating in the case of axillary hyperhidrosis. Any sort of stress or anxiety greatly increases the severity of excessive underarm sweating.
While excessive underarm sweating normally manifests itself during adolescence years there are case histories of it having effected children of very young ages.
The severity of the problem increases in children, as they spend much of their time with friends in schools, playgrounds, and other areas.
Teased and taunted by their friends, these children can be permanently scarred and can grow up to be teenagers and even adults with severe social problems, totally withdrawn and suffering from a lot of phobias.
Proper attention should be taken by parents to prevent excessive sweating, in order to make their children come out of this problem and not have social insecurity about their future, which can hamper the overall personality of the child.
There is a tendency for many parents to dismiss this situation as a cosmetic problem, whereas in all reality, it is a serious medical problem and should be treated with the seriousness it deserves.
Symptoms of axillary hyperhidrosis.
As it is already pointed out that this is one of the most troublesome conditions in hyperhidrosis, the symptoms of underarm sweating are most prominent.
Sweat in armpits will make rings in the clothes of the person and will leave stains that can be very clearly seen.
Treatments of underarm sweating.
Attempting to solve the impact of excessive underarm sweating with the use of antiperspirants is nothing but a paltry treatment at best.
There is very little impact on the problem of excessive underarm sweating even though medications are prescribed to be consumed along with the use of external antiperspirants.
While surgery is regarded as the complete treatment, the fact that the side effects associated with such surgical procedures, as is with surgery for any other defect, could be far more problematic, than the problem that needed the surgery, cannot be ignored!
Compensatory sweating is one of the most common side effects of surgical treatment for underarm sweating, while scars and slow healing of wounds are also associated with it.
After undergoing surgical treatment for underarm sweating, other parts of the body start sweating. Other troublesome side effects are sleep hyperhidrosis and night hyperhidrosis – it is known for patients to awaken drenched in sweat because they have been sweating profusely at night time in their sleep!
Slow healing wounds and scars sometimes give rise to other skin and microbial problems. In some cases it is also noticed that scars sometimes reappear after once fading after the surgery, which is annoying for the patient, who has already suffered much!
Surgical treatments are, clearly, not a panacea for underarm sweating or any types of hyperhidrosis.
